In the rapidly changing and transforming world of the 21st century, it has become inevitable for individuals to possess lifelong learning skills. Lifelong learning is an approach that goes beyond formal education, encompassing personal development, professional development, and social participation processes. This training aims to help teachers and educators develop strategies that will allow students to become lifelong learners.
In the European Union’s 2021-2027 Digital Education Action Plan, the importance of lifelong learning is emphasized, and it is stated that all individuals need to continuously develop their digital skills. The European Union is also developing policies to promote a culture of lifelong learning and supporting teachers in this area.
This training aims to help participants adopt a culture of lifelong learning and foster this culture in their students.
TRAINING OBJECTIVES
Through this training program, participants will develop the following competencies:
- Understand the concept of lifelong learning.
- Teach strategies for developing students’ curiosity, exploration ability, and self-direction skills.
- Strengthening lifelong learning habits using digital tools and technology.
- Introduce learning resources that support social, cultural, and professional development.
EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES
During the course, participants will:
- Understand the concept of lifelong learning and integrate it into daily life and educational processes.
- Design activities that increase students’ curiosity and motivation to learn.
- Use digital tools to continually develop themselves and their students.
- Recognize and recommend learning resources that support students’ personal, social, and professional development.
TRAINING ACTIVITY PROGRAM
Day 1:
- Project Information Meeting, Introduction of Training Activities.
- Pre-Test: Determining the current knowledge level of participants.
- Introduction of the concept of lifelong learning: What is lifelong learning? Why is it important?
- Discussion of the European Union’s lifelong learning policies and priorities.
- Analysis of learning needs in the age of change: The skills of the future and individual adaptation.
Day 2:
- Strategies for awakening curiosity and exploration: How can we increase students’ interest in learning?
- Developing self-direction skills: Enabling students to manage their own learning processes.
- Group work: Participants design activities that will increase students’ learning motivation.
Day 3:
- The role of digital tools and technology in lifelong learning: Online courses, digital books, podcasts, and other resources.
- How innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) can enhance learning experiences.
- Case studies: Examination and analysis of successful lifelong learning applications.
Day 4:
- Strategies for spreading a culture of lifelong learning in schools and communities: How can it be encouraged in school environments?
- Methods for teachers to develop their own lifelong learning skills: Self-learning, mentoring, and collaborations.
- Panel discussion: A panel on “Lifelong Learning in the Future of Education,” allowing participants to share their experiences and benefit from expert opinions.
Day 5:
- Final Test: Evaluation of the knowledge and skills participants have gained throughout the training. The test includes scenario-based questions in addition to theoretical knowledge.
- Group Presentations: Participants present the projects and lifelong learning strategies they have worked on during previous days. Each group explains how their projects work, which tools they use, and how these tools can benefit students in developing lifelong learning habits.
- Feedback and Evaluation: Participants provide feedback on the overall flow of the training, the content presented, and the trainers. Strengths and areas for improvement are identified through surveys.
- Europass Certificate Ceremony: Certificates will be awarded to participants who actively engaged in the training and successfully completed it. Additionally, special awards will be given to the groups with the best project or presentation.
