TRAINING DETAILS
With the globalization process of the 21st century, individuals in society have rapidly stepped into the digital world, both in their daily lives and professional careers. The necessities brought about by the global COVID-19 pandemic have undoubtedly played a significant role in accelerating this transition. The field of education is now undergoing a rapid digital transformation. As a result of the pandemic, 1.6 billion students—representing 90% of the global student population—were physically unable to attend school, drawing attention to the digitalization of education.
Thus, for the first time, the traditional education approach, which had resisted radical change, has undergone a major transformation thanks to the communication and information technologies brought by the 21st century. The digitalization of education offers opportunities to access knowledge directly from the source, share it globally, and enhance equal educational opportunities. Studies show that learning is more effective in a well-designed digital learning environment. Additionally, students who can access information anytime and anywhere, and learn at their own pace, progress much faster.
In a rapidly changing world where we are perhaps preparing for an unpredictable future more than ever before, one of the greatest responsibilities of educators is to equip the new generation with digital skills and prepare them for the world of the future. The adaptation of teachers—who are the cornerstone of educational services—to digital elements within the educational process is crucial in enhancing the quality of support provided to students in schools. Therefore, teachers must have a high level of technological adaptability both within and outside their institutions.
The European Union’s 2021-2027 Digital Education Action Plan highlights that digital competence should be a fundamental skill for all teachers and must be integrated into all aspects of their professional development.
